smartly dressed in dazzling pure white uniform
holding the imperative rifle firmly in hand
i marched in as part of the honorable contingnent
with countless butterflies flying excitedly in my stomach
gladly overwhelmed by the enthusiastic ovation
we executed sharp drills with precise coordination
and fired the Feu-De-Joie with immerse pride
well, that was then...

seated comfortably on the cosy sofa at home
watching this world-class performance well put out
i saw our usually stern political leaders boogie
with many happy budding children and joyful old folks
majestic fireworks magically propping up the sky
